Welcome to Online Guide for Businesses

The City of Powell’s historic downtown is the heart and soul of our economic infrastructure. Thoughtfully designed civic architecture, attractive streetscapes, bountiful city services and ample parking provide a thriving business district amidst an intimate village environment.

Businesses of any genre flourish in our upscale community, supporting 12,000 residents with an average median household income of $92,000 (well above the Ohio average of $41,000). Special events, such as our annual Powell Festival, keep our City active year-round with visitors.

In July 2003, our City demonstrated proactive initiative by enlisting the help of consulting firms Kinzelman Kline and The Whitaker Group to develop a progressive Downtown Revitalization Plan. Our vision was to position Powell as its own destination place for shopping, obtaining services and community living. The project was a huge undertaking, but we are proud to say we are implementing those recommendations and already enjoying the fruits of our labor. The Historic Downtown Powell Inc. group is one positive outcome of this endeavor. The plan targets the Powell Historic District and sections of vacant or underutilized land in the City to develop the areas in a way that draws businesses in while maintaining the small-town appeal.

New businesses are encouraged to join the Greater Powell Area Chamber of Commerce to fully enjoy all the networking benefits it offers. The Chamber, residents, city staff and elected officials all pull together in welcoming and supporting new businesses. We have more exciting plans on the horizon to continue our revitalization goals. And with the lowest income tax rate of any other city in Central Ohio, Powell offers yet another appealing reason to grow your business here.
