The Powell Police Department hosted the City's National Night Out event on Aug. 3. The fun-filled family event featured live music, games, activities for kids and more.   A nice night brought a nice crowd, including a few mascots, to Village Green Park for National Night Out.

The Ohio Flags of Honor were on display in Village Green Park during Memorial Day weekend, honoring those Ohio soldiers killed in the War on Terrorism.   Boy Scouts from local Troop 428 helped set up the Flags of Honor.

The Powell Police Department led the procession in the Memorial Day Parade, which went off as scheduled despite early rain showers.   Area veterans were driven in the parade in Corvettes provided by a local Corvette club.

Mayor Schultz at Liberty Tree Elementary

 
Mayor Art Schultz visited Liberty Tree Elementary School on May 11 to read to students in grades 3-5 as part of Right to Read Week. Mayor Schultz read a chapter from the book "The Indian in the Cupboard."  

City of Powell Arbor Day Ceremony at Village Green Park

Splash Pad Resurfacing at Village Green Park

 
The City of Powell's Splash Pad recently had a new, longer-lasting surface installed in time for a new season of use. These before, during and after photos show the work that was done, as well as the finished product.

City of Powell Easter Egg Hunt

City of Powell/Kinsale St. Patrick's Party

 
A giant shamrock let guests know they'd arrived at the St. Patrick's Party put on by the City of Powell and Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club.
  The Canine Collective brought many four-legged friends to the event in the hopes of finding homes for them.

 
Face painting was one of the many popular activities at the St. Patrick's Party.

 
Coloring was also a favorite activity of the party's young attendees.
  Irish music for the day was provided by Ohio band The Mickeys.

 
Despite cool temperatures, kids enjoyed the inflatable attractions set up outside the Kinsale clubhouse.

 

 
Needless to say, many guests were appropriately decked out in green for the occasion.

 

 

 
Balloon artists stayed busy creating an impressive number of animals, hats and even swords during the day.

Columbus Museum of Art "Art Around Town" Event

 
A display welcomes guests to the Art Around Town event at the Powell Municipal Building on Feb. 27.

Art Around Town kicked off with a docent-led discussion of the Middleton Manigault painting, "The Zoo."
  "The Zoo" is a piece of art in the Museum's permanent collection.

 

 
The event featured a variety of family activities, including puppet making.

 

 

 

 

 
Guests took turns studying the painting and answering questions about it.

 
Art Around Town also featured a performance by a violinist and a cellist from the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra.
