The City of Powell Development Department regularly seeks out new, innovative and creative projects that will benefit the Powell area while adding variety to our growing community. City leaders have also been diligently revitalizing the downtown district, working to preserve its “historic heritage” while maximizing its best assets. Several of Powell's outlying areas are also seeing growth with an exciting variety of favorite regional companies and national retail establishments.

The City of Powell is a vibrant community of more than 11,500 residents, located just to the northwest of Columbus — the state capital and largest city in Ohio. With access to I-270, SR 315 and U.S. 23, you will find traveling to downtown Columbus, The Ohio State University or Port Columbus International Airport to be a short, and convenient, drive.

The City of Powell is enjoying consistent growth, as small to medium companies are selecting Powell as the best location for their future growth. The current zoning code will provide you with the regulations related to many projects, such as installing a fence, adding on to your home or business, installing a sign or constructing a new business. The zoning map is continually updated on this Web site in order for you to stay on top of the current zoning as it relates to property within Powell.

Community Improvement Corporation

The Powell Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) corporation on Feb. 16, 2010, as allowed by the Ohio Revised Code. The purpose of the Powell CIC is to promote the industrial, commercial, distribution and research development within the City of Powell that will improve the normal growth, employment opportunities and stability of employment within these sectors. The CIC also works to advance the industrial and commercial life of the community and to stabilize the general economy of the area; to develop methods for or to assist in the development of methods to further enhance these purposes; and to furnish assistance to projects and undertakings concerning these purposes.
