Public Service Worker – Streets and Parks
 
Pay – $21.59 an hour
Employment Type – Full-Time
Hours – Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with occasional weekend hours and availability to work special events
Department – Service Department                                                    
 
This is a full-time classified, bargaining unit position that requires semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair and construction work in a variety of areas including parks maintenance, public works, facilities, and equipment. Prior parks and recreation or streets and utilities for a Public Works department preferred. 
Qualifications for this position includes experience performing general maintenance, construction or repair work, mowing, basic mechanical know-how, and snow plowing. Possession of, or willingness to obtain a valid commercial driver’s license, State of Ohio (Class “B”) CDL with airbrake endorsement required.

Deputy Chief of Police
 
Pay – $120,000 to $135,000 a year  
Employment Type – Full-Time
Department – Police Department                                                    
 
The City of Powell is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional with demonstrated leadership capabilities to serve as its new Deputy Chief of Police. The ideal candidate will be a service-minded individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to listen. The incoming Deputy Chief will have a strong community policing and problem-solving background and a track record of working well with outside agencies.

Current City Council, Board & Commission Openings

The City is always searching for individual who have an interest in serving our community. Please visit our Board & Commissions page to learn more about the many opportunities to volunteer. The City currently has the following opportunities:

Charter Review Commission – The Charter Review Commission is comprised of members of Powell City Council, City of Powell resident, and members of City staff to review the Powell City Charter and make recommendations for changes. The City Charter is the governing constitution for the City of Powell and the Commission will recommend changes to the Charter that will be passed by the City Council and placed on a ballot for a vote of the public.

The members are appointed by Council and will meet on a set number of meetings to be determined at a later date by the Commission.

Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) Housing CouncilThe CRA Housing Council shall make an annual inspection of the properties within the district for which an exemption has been granted under Section 3735.67 of the ORC. The Housing Council shall also hear appeals under Section 3735.70 of the ORC.
