Block Parties or Parades:
The Powell Police Department requires that an application be filed for large-scale events that may require traffic considerations. For more details, please call 614.885.5005, ext. 1101, or click here (pdf) to download a request form.

Banner Permit Application:
To advertise your group or event on a banner that can be hung in the downtown, you must fill out an application and submit it to the City. Click here (pdf) to download a copy of the application, and click here (pdf) click here for a map of downtown banner locations.

Delaware General Health District:
The Delaware General Health District serves all of Delaware County, including Powell. More than 60 full- and part-time professional and support staff at the Health District work to foster, protect and improve the health and the environment of the county and its residents. In Ohio's first-ever county-by-county health rankings, issued in 2010, Delaware County ranked #1 and was named the healthiest county in Ohio. Click here to learn more.

Garage Sales:
Permits are not required for garage sales. Signs should not be placed within the right-of-way or on street signs. Balloons and other such items are prohibited. Signs should not remain posted longer than 48 hours.

Notary Service:
Several City employees are Notary Publics and would be happy to assist you free of charge in your notary needs. Please be sure to bring proper identification and necessary documents. For more information, please call 614.885.5380, ext. 1001.

Ohio Wildlife Center:
The OWC educates citizens about wildlife and provides rehabilitation services for injured wild animals. For more information or to discover volunteering opportunities, please call 614.793.WILD.

Olentangy Swim Association Pool:
The Olentangy Swim Association Pool, commonly referred to as the "Powell Pool," is located on Village Park Drive. It is a privately owned facility that is located on public land. The association's Web site contains detailed information regarding memberships, public swim time and costs, and related topics.

Open Burning:
Open burning is not permitted within the City of Powell unless a permit is obtained through the Environmental Protection Agency. For more information, visit the EPA Web site at www.epa.ohio/gov/dapc/general/openburning.html.

The Liberty Township Fire Department does not regulate outdoor fireplaces or chimney use, but it does make the following suggestions:

  1. Always follow manufacturer recommendations.
  2. Always maintain a proper distance from combustibles.
  3. Use only clean, dry wood to minimize smoke.

Pet Legislation:
The free roaming of pets in the City is prohibited by ordinance. In addition, owners are required to restrain their animals when outside of their own property limits, and persons walking such animals are required to have in their possession a device to pick up animal waste. This legislation was passed in an effort to keep the City of Powell safe and clean.

Pet Licenses:
If you own a dog anywhere in Delaware County, you'll need a dog license renewed every year. The price is $10 per tag and all dogs over the age of 3 months are required by law to be licensed. Please click here to apply for a dog license online.

Licenses for your pet are issued through the Delaware County Auditor’s Office located in the Delaware County Courthouse. For more information, please call 740.833.2900 during the business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
