Council votes to ban temporary signs
Powell City Council voted 5-1 with one abstention to ban temporary commercial signs and modify what is permitted for permanent signs. The ordinance will go into effect within 30 days. Temporary signs will be permitted for non-profit and government special events.
Assisted living and memory care facility approved by Council
The final development plan for Spectrum II, an assisted living and memory care facility proposed at Sawmill Road and Attucks Drive was unanimously approved by City Council.
The proposed assisted living and memory care facility calls for 85 units, 2 stories and 65 parking spaces.
Zoning map amendment for The Reserve at Morris Place tabled
City Council tabled an ordinance approving a zoning map amendment for 5.37 acres at 185 North Liberty Street from City of Powell R, Residence District to City of Powell DR, Downtown Residence District to the Sept. 1, 2015 meeting.
The Reserve at Morris Place is a proposed mixed-residential subdivision and includes 39 condominium homes. The requested zoning change from residential to downtown residential is to accommodate development of condominium homes south of Adventure Park as described and recommended in the Downtown Revitalization Plan. This will also include the extension of Depot Street from Case Street to Adventure Park Drive.
Annexation moved to second reading
An ordinance accepting the annexation of nearly 44 acres at the southeast corner of Seldom Seen Road and Sawmill Parkway for the proposed Powell Grand development was moved to a second reading. Additionally, an ordinance approving a zoning map amendment for the property was moved to a second reading.
The Powell Grand is an active adult community and would include one, two and three bedroom apartments catered toward seniors and empty nesters.
