City of Powell celebrates Opening of Ohio State Outpatient Care Powell

The City of Powell is proud to welcome The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care Powell to the community. This milestone investment expands access to high-quality health care for residents across the region. Opening Aug. 3, Outpatient Care Powell reflects a shared commitment to thoughtful growth, strong community partnerships and enhancing the quality of life for those who live, work and visit Powell.

The new facility represents a significant investment in the Powell community, bringing expanded access to world-class health care while supporting the City’s commitment to enhancing residents’ quality of life. As the first Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center ambulatory location to offer services with the James Cancer Hospital, Outpatient Care Powell will provide a comprehensive range of services under one roof, including cancer diagnosis and treatment, physical therapy, advanced imaging, laboratory services, endoscopy, an on-site retail pharmacy, advanced urgent care, walk-in care and more.

A decade in the making, this project is the result of years of collaboration among The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, the City of Powell and numerous community partners. Through a shared vision and commitment to partnership, this investment will serve residents for generations to come.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Vice Mayor Tom Counts said the opening is about much more than a new building.

"Today represents much more than the opening of a new state-of-the-art building. It represents access to exceptional health care, closer to home, for thousands of residents throughout Powell and the surrounding region," Counts said. "Having a facility like this in our community is truly life-changing. It means families can spend less time traveling and more time focusing on their health."

Counts also recognized the collaborative effort that brought the project to fruition, noting that developments of this size require strong partnerships and a shared vision.

"Unlike many communities competing for projects like this, Powell didn't have a large package of financial incentives to offer," Counts said. "What we did have was a shared vision, a commitment to partnership and a belief that this investment would make a meaningful difference for our residents."

He added that the project reflects the type of thoughtful growth the City seeks to encourage.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is taking ownership of the building this month as it transitions from construction to operational readiness. Booking for appointments is now available and the facility will welcome its first patients on Aug. 3.
