Community invited to help shape Village Green’s future

What should the future of Powell’s Village Green look like? The City is inviting residents to help shape the answer at a public workshop Thursday, Nov. 12.
The workshop will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Powell City Hall, 47 Hall St. Community members can review the latest concepts, ask questions and provide input on the future of one of Powell’s central public spaces. Whether you participated in an earlier engagement opportunity or are joining the conversation for the first time, all community members are encouraged to attend.
This spring, residents shared what makes Village Green special and offered ideas for its future. That feedback is helping inform revisions to the concepts, with particular attention to green space, family-friendly amenities, gathering places and the small-town character that helps define Powell.
Village Green has served as a gathering place for recreation, community events and local traditions. As Powell grows and community needs evolve, the master planning process provides an opportunity to consider how this important public space can continue serving residents while supporting a vibrant, connected downtown.
The Village Green Master Plan is part of the City’s broader, long-term planning for public facilities, parks, transportation and community amenities. Planning ahead allows the City to explore potential improvements, consider future needs and evaluate opportunities and tradeoffs before decisions become more pressing.
The master planning process is intended to explore possibilities and help the City and community better understand their potential implications. No development or construction decisions have been made as part of this planning process. Community feedback will be considered alongside technical, financial and infrastructure factors as the City evaluates options and determines potential next steps.
