As fall cleanup continues, here are a few tips and reminders to help keep our neighborhoods looking great and our storm systems flowing smoothly:

Keep Leaves Out of the Street

Raking leaves into the roadway might seem convenient, but once rain comes, those leaves can wash into storm drains. When they do, they can cause blockages, backups, and neighborhood flooding. Keeping leaves out of the street protects both your neighborhood and our stormwater system.

Curbside Collection with Rumpke

If you’re bagging up your leaves, simply place them in lawn bags at the curb with your regular trash and recycling. Rumpke will collect them during the weekly pickup—no special scheduling required.

Put Your Leaves to Work at Home

Want a greener option? Use fallen leaves as natural mulch. Spread them in garden beds to help retain moisture, protect the soil over winter, and return essential nutrients as they break down.

Street Sweepers Can’t Solve Leaf Piles

Powell’s street sweeping program is designed for light debris—not piles of leaves pushed into the street. Proper disposal at home helps the sweepers do their job and keeps our roads clean and safe.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Powell beautiful, functional, and fall-ready this season!
