Jonathan Weirich Promoted to Sergeant

The City of Powell is pleased to announce the promotion of Jonathan Weirich to the rank of sergeant with the Powell Police Department, effective Nov. 2, 2025.
Sergeant Weirich joined the Powell Police Department on Feb. 5, 2024, bringing with him 13 years of law enforcement experience from the City of Delaware. Since joining Powell, he has quickly demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism and a commitment to community service.
During his tenure, Sgt. Weirich has taken on several key assignments, including serving as Officer-in-Charge, Flock Safety Camera Coordinator, Bike Patrol, Field Training Officer (FTO), Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Program member, Rapid ID Coordinator and Vehicle Maintenance Assistant.
"Sergeant Weirich's dedication to training, mentorship and innovation has strengthened our department and reflects the values of our organization," said Powell Police Chief Ron Sallows. "His leadership will continue to help us provide exceptional service to our community."
The Powell Police Department congratulates Sgt. Weirich on this well-deserved achievement and looks forward to his continued contributions to the city and its residents.
