At Tuesday’s meeting, Kurt Ramsey was selected to fill the unexpired vacant City Council position.

The council conducted a public call for applicants and interview process to fill former Councilmember Christina Drummond's council seat. After interviewing multiple qualified candidates, Ramsey was selected for that seat.

“I would like to congratulate Kurt on his appointment to City Council. Kurt ran in the previous election and was defeated by only 82 votes. I am confident he will get started right away and I look forward to working with him," said Mayor Tom Counts.

Ramsey has been a member of Powell's Planning and Zoning Commission since 2024 and brings over 20 years of professional experience as an analytical engineer. He has lived in Powell with his family since 2005.

Kurt will be sworn into office at the May 7 City Council meeting. His term will run through December 31, 2025.
