The City of Powell has determined a path forward for repairing the pedestrian bridge connecting the multi-use path between Halverston and Rutherford roads.
Following an engineering assessment, the City determined the bridge can be repaired rather than fully replaced. The City’s insurance adjuster and engineering representatives also evaluated the damage as part of the insurance claim process. Based on those assessments, the repair will be covered through the City’s insurance.
Crews began work on Thursday, Sept. 17 on the approximately 20-foot section of the bridge damaged by a fallen tree. Repairs will include replacing the damaged bridge treads, handrails and structural framing underneath the bridge.
The bridge is expected to remain closed for approximately one more week while repairs are completed. The City will provide an update when the bridge officially reopens.
The City appreciates residents’ patience as staff worked through the damage assessment, engineering review and insurance process to determine the safest and most effective repair approach.
