Powell named a top government for financial reporting

The City of Powell has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) as a 2024 Triple Crown Winner, an honor that recognizes governments demonstrating excellence in financial reporting and budgeting.

Powell is one of just 441 governments across the United States and Canada to receive the Triple Crown designation for fiscal year 2024.

The prestigious recognition is awarded to governments that earn all three of GFOA's highest honors during the same fiscal year:

• Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (or the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting)

• Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award

• Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

To qualify for the Triple Crown, governments must meet rigorous standards in each award program, demonstrating a commitment to transparency, accountability and clear communication of financial information.

The Triple Crown designation represents a significant achievement, recognizing governments that excel in financial reporting, budget presentation and public communication of financial information.
