Kurt Ramsey began his term as council member in April 2025; prior to that he began his service on the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2024. He also sits on the Development and Finance Committees.
Kurt joined City Council in hopes of ensuring Powell’s tax dollars are used responsibly to strengthen the community and continue the City’s growth. He also aims to keep Powell safe for residents and visitors to the City.
Earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati followed by receiving a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Kurt went on to serve as a mechanical engineer for the Central Intelligence Agency before joining Battelle where he now serves as a Ground Systems Operations Manager.
At Battelle he oversees the design and construction of armored vehicles for the U.S. military and other government agencies.
Kurt moved to Powell to raise his two daughters in a small-town atmosphere with a good school system. He currently resides in Powell with his wife, Kathy, his daughter, Morgan, and his dog Scout.
In his free time, he volunteers with the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion, Star Wars costuming groups that attend and promote charitable causes.
