The City of Powell has awarded a $23,855 Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Grant to Nocterra Brewing Co. to support a portion of the purchase of a new delivery vehicle.

This BRE grant program is designed to support established Powell businesses that have faced a business difficulty and have not been able to find financial assistance elsewhere. BRE Grants are negotiated based on a percentage of payroll taxes and help ensure that vital businesses can continue to thrive in Powell.

Nocterra Brewing Co., a cornerstone of Powell’s downtown, draws tens of thousands of visitors each year. The brewery not only supports a vibrant local scene but also plays a key role in boosting foot traffic and visibility for other downtown establishments.

The new vehicle will replace an aging delivery van and expand Nocterra’s ability to serve as its own distributor. It also includes built-in taps, allowing Nocterra to attend events, fairs and festivals across the region—an important revenue stream and brand visibility opportunity.

Demonstrating both creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, Nocterra partnered with the Powell Library to use its Makerspace Lab to print custom vinyl graphics for the new vehicle. The team then taught themselves how to install the graphics to help save money while showcasing the resourcefulness of small business owners.

By supporting Nocterra’s continued growth and operations, the City of Powell is reaffirming its commitment to local businesses and the long-term vitality of its downtown.
