The City of Powell is remembering the life and legacy of Larry C. Coolidge, a longtime resident whose passion for service helped shape many of the traditions and community groups that define Powell today. Larry passed away on November 12, 2025.

For more than five decades, Larry worked as a real estate broker, but his influence extended far beyond his professional work. Larry dedicated much of his life to strengthening civic life in Powell and Delaware County.

Larry was instrumental in establishing Powell’s Historic Downtown Advisory Commission (HDAC). HDAC reviews proposed changes to Powell’s Downtown to ensure new construction, renovations, and restorations align with City guidelines.

He also was involved in the creation of the Powell SERTOMA Club, an organization built so the community could rally around service, prepare holiday meals for those in-need, raise funds for local charities, and more. His vision and energy brought to life numerous events that became part of Powell’s community fabric, including the Cruize-In Pig-Out car show, Powell Festival activities, the Historical Society Pancake Day, Realtor Care Day, the SERTOMA Scholarship Program, the Powell Area Realtors Association, and the Powell Farmers Market.

Through these efforts, Larry created spaces for people to gather, volunteer, and celebrate the Powell community. His work on various boards and committees demonstrated the same commitment: showing up, pitching in, and helping his hometown thrive.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patty, and by many family members and friends who continue to call Powell home. His love of sports, cars, and community connection left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

A funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

  • Mass: 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Liberty Road.
  • Celebration of Life: 4 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Municipal Building, East Room, 47 Hall Street.

The City of Powell is grateful for Larry’s years of service, leadership, and unwavering belief in the power of community. His legacy will continue to be felt in the events, traditions, and civic spirit he helped build.
