As temperatures begin to rise, Powell crews are proactively clearing stormwater drains throughout the City to prepare for anticipated thawing conditions.

Snow and ice accumulation can block stormwater inlets, increasing the risk of localized flooding as melting occurs. By clearing debris and built-up ice from catch basins, crews are helping ensure water can move efficiently through the stormwater system.

Residents and property owners can also help during the thaw by monitoring downspouts and ensuring they are directing water away from foundations and sidewalks. Keeping downspouts clear can reduce the potential for pooling water and icy conditions.

The City appreciates the continued efforts of its public service crews, who work year-round to maintain critical infrastructure and respond to changing weather conditions.

Residents with stormwater concerns are encouraged to report issues through the City’s service request system.
