Pedestrian safety improvements are moving ahead at the intersection of Home Road and Steitz Road.

The City of Powell has been working in partnership with the Delaware County Engineer’s Office to advance the project, and construction is anticipated to begin this June.

Because the intersection falls under the jurisdiction of the Delaware County Engineer’s Office, improvements there require county review, prioritization and coordination. While that process can sometimes impact project timing, the City appreciates the partnership and collaboration helping move these improvements forward.

The completed design includes:

  • New pedestrian crossing indicators at the traffic signal
  • A new north-south crossing on the west side of the intersection with pavement markings and signage
  • A new curb ramp on the south side of Home Road
  • A new path connection to the existing path along Home Road

Together, these upgrades will create a safer north-south crossing of Home Road at a signalized intersection for pedestrians and cyclists.

The City is currently obtaining contractor bids for the project. Once a contractor is selected and under contract, crews will begin construction.
